School of Engineering and Applied Science Information Technology Group
Information Technology is an essential part of any enterprise and is growing in importance every day. As part of Miami University's School most allied with technology, the School of Engineering & Applied Science's Information Technology Group faces difficult challenges and exciting opportunities working with varied platforms and cutting-edge concepts. As such, SEAS-IT is recognized as a force for computing knowledge and direction throughout the University.
The mission of the School of Engineering & Applied Science Information Technologies Group is to support the missions of the School and the University by
- facilitating the use of technology in the learning process
- serving as a guiding force for University technology directions
- illuminating a "real life" view of computing services
- providing "hands on" experience with computer support for students
- ensuring reliable computing services for students, faculty and staff within the School of Engineering and Applied Science
- working with central computing services on university computing issues
The SEAS-IT Group provides support local to the needs within SEAS while MU IT Services provides support on central services (in much the same way state and federal governments work together). Although occasionally SEAS-IT and MU IT Services appear to overlap, SEAS-IT is part of the SEAS, but does work with MU IT Services as well as the IT groups of other departments and divisions on many issues.
